About the event
Nairobi’s first baseball & softball field complex - known as “The Nairobi Field of Dreams” - is being built at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in partnership with a grass-roots and community-driven non-profit organization called IfWeBuildIt.org.
To celebrate America’s Independence Day and Kenya’s love for baseball and softball, the organization and its community partners are hosting the “Stars & Stripes Softball Celebration” on Saturday July 8. In classic “4th of July” fashion, the event will feature a softball tournament, a celebrity game, classic American fare (hotdogs!), music, and entertainment.
The Japanese Samurai will take on a Kenyan All-Star team at 9 a.m. and the Celebrity team will take the field at 11 a.m. to play the local Nairobi-American Buffaloes.
Following the celebrity game at 1 p.m. we’ll have a special series of remarks and entertainment. To conclude the day, at 2 p.m. the tournament championship game will be played and the winner will raise the trophy!
