ABOUT US
MISSION & PURPOSE
We are building baseball and softball fields for dreams to come true across Africa.
As a community-driven non-profit and social enterprise, our mission is to support young people and communities across Africa through the transformative power of play and sports, specifically through baseball and softball.
We do this by building fields for dreams to come true, increasing access to play, and supporting the growth of the next generation of community leaders.
"If we build it, we will play."
Our organization began with a simple idea - for baseball to grow across Africa, young people need the formal spaces and fields to play the games.
Participation in baseball and softball in Kenya, and across Africa, is fueled by a rapidly growing grassroots movement and a variety of organizations providing skills training and equipment.
While players, coaches, and community leaders in over 20 countries are actively involved in growing and playing baseball, softball, and Baseball 5, the fields and spaces to play these games, aren't available in nearly every community where the sport has taken root.
If We Build It was formed to close the physical and community infrastructure gap, by building the fields that drive play and community collaboration, helping young people and communities grow stronger, and support the growth of the game we all love
.

About Our Approach
We believe in the power of collaboration to build stronger communities through sport, by building infrastructure and improving the lives of young people.
We support players and communities where baseball and softball have taken root. Through various projects and initiatives, we focus on building baseball fields, creating spaces to play and developing programs, primarily in Nairobi, Kenya, while growing our reach to players and young people across Africa.
Baseball fields and teams are where leadership, collaboration, and life skills are developed - opening doors to a future that reaches far beyond the fields where the game of baseball is played.
We offer young people not just a place to play, but a platform to grow individually and a foundation for stronger communities.
How we're building it
We believe in the power of collaboration to build spaces for play, engage and unite communities, and grow the next generation of community leaders.

Build
Building fields for dreams to come true
We design and build safe, accessible baseball and softball fields. From Nairobi’s first diamond to temporary fields, we build places where youth can thrive.

Play
Fostering community development through play.
Through Little League programs, local tournaments, series, and clinics, we create joyful, structured opportunities for young players to experience teamwork, discipline, and fun on and off the field.

Grow
Growing opportunities for the next generation.
We nurture the next generation of leaders by connecting young people to life skills, pathways to education, and economic opportunities, with a focus on growing stronger communities.
If We Build is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and social enterprise in the United States and is incorporated in the state of New York as IF WE BUILD IT.ORG, INC.
We also operate a subsidiary social enterprise focused LLC in Kenya called, Tunajenga Baseball Limited that has been established until our Charity status is approved in Kenya.
